23rd December 2024 - Open Cocker 16 Dog Field Trial, Bagots Park
Open Cocker Field Trial Dove Valley Working Gundog Club 23rd December 2024 Bagots Park, Abbots Bromley
Judges Neale Satchwell Barry Faley
Another fabulous Trial at Bagots Park, this time for the Cocker Spaniels, by kind permission of Mr David Dale and Keeper Samuel Sayce.
A hugely successful day, overcast but dry, in the beautiful setting of Bagots Park. We were warmly welcomed by the landowner and breakfast for all kindly provided by Bob Seaman and Helen Seaman. A ride in the gun bus took us around the estate to the first wood where Sam was able to show us plenty of birds and the dogs to show their talent. The guns Graham Burton, Philip Walton, Jon Fern and Paul Woodcock all shot well. A few dogs were put out before we then walked on to another wooded area, where once again the birds were plentiful. The gallery were able to see more action here, with a particularly spectacular retrieve of a runner by the eventual winner Donnachaidh Losgaintir Will Clulee.
The judges put their books together and at 1.45pm announced Trial Over. Many thanks to all those who helped and supported the Trial, Julia Bott Chief Steward, Jane Burton and Heather Clarke Judges Stewards, Vanessa King Picker Up, Sam Sears & Stef Greenhalgh Game Carriers and Bridget Noakes supporting the Gallery, without whom we couldn’t put on such smooth running and successful Trial. Judges, guns, stewards, landowner and the Bagots Park team were all fed and watered in the wonderful shoot room on the Estate with a roaring log burner to warm us all. The results were announced.
